In 2015 and 2016, I led a small team to provide a variety of web services to Halcyon Development / Design Group, a property development company located in Chicago, IL. Brothers Chris and Paul DeLeeuw own and operate Halcyon, and have together constructed more than 80 houses and multi-unit buildings in the Chicago area. Their beautiful, environmentally sound, high-quality work is inspired by many years of travel and work in Europe, and their commitment to perfection in every detail shows at every level.
We learned everything we could about their business, their design ethos, and their buildings. Then we built a website that matches the look and feel of the homes they create. Leaning towards a modern, clean interface without being too flashy, we filled the site with wide-screen images of Halcyon properties that showcase open spaces, covetable kitchens, and warm living areas. Everything about Halcyon designs says "welcome, be at home here," and our hope is that their website speaks in the same voice.
During the process, we encountered several pre-existing errors in the backend, domain control, and hosting settings. These required additional technical labor and extensive conversations with multiple organizations' tech support teams. We were more than happy to provide this service as part of our existing project budget. Prioritizing people first means caring for clients' needs to the best of our ability! The result is a great new website and an ongoing, mutually beneficial relationship with our satisfied client.
